Audi A3 E-tron concept (2011) first official pictures

This is the Audi A3 E-tron concept, just unveiled alongside the new Q3 SUV at the 2011 Shanghai motor show. It’s Audi’s second A3 concept car in the space of two months – the first was a 402bhp super saloon, but this is a little more eco-conscious, with a plug-in hybrid powertrain – but both preview how the next A3 will look. Does this new Audi A3 E-tron concept still use the first concept's turbocharged 2.5-litre five-pot engine?

Twenty years ago, the classic bargain brands like Lada seemed to be going the same way as the Soviet empire that spawned them. Woefully dated and badly made, only a weirdo would have bought a new Lada rather than a second-hand model from Ford, Vauxhall or VW. However, one of the big trends in the car industry today is the re-emergence of bargain cars.

The Bentley Pop Art - created by Pop Artist Romero Britto So it’s quite startling to see a Bentley Continental GT with a paint job by renowned ‘Pop Artist to the Stars’ Romero Britto, who has created this one-off Continental GT – donated by Bentley Motors – for an exhibition in Germany at Automobil Forum Unter den Linden, which runs from 10th July until 6th September. But as I’m sure you’ll have guessed, this is not just a Pop Art paint job for the sake of it. The Pop Art Bentley will be auctioned off at the end of the exhibition in aid of the Nathalie Todenhöfer Foundation for multiple sclerosis and Best Buddies, a charity for the mentally challenged – which is all very noble – and good on Bentley for donating the Continental GT.
